WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS June 11-12, 2011

Two Kalev teams competed at this World Championships. In the preliminairies the "Expressions" placed 9th, while "Canadiana" came in 18th place, out of 26 teams. In teh Finals, the "Expressions" were in 8th place. Below are screen grabs from the live TV coverage of the competition.

World Cup
Vigo, Spain, May 14 - 15, 2011

The two Canadian teams, both from Kalev Estienne, were the "Rhythmic Expressions" and "Canadiana". In the all around competition, the "Expressions" placed 10th and "Canadiana" 15th out of 16 participating teams. In the Finals, the "Expressions" improved their position and finished in 8th place. This event also marked 60 years of rhythmic gymnastics in Canada - the history of RG here began with Kalev - and on hand to help celebrate and congratulate Kalev and Evelyn Koop were Slava Corn, Vice-President of FIG and Maria Szyszkowska, the President of the RG Technical Committee (below with Evelyn Koop and her granddaughter, Christina):

"Ninja" with Rhythmic Expressions: Diana, Dora, Esther, Kate, Marie-Eve and Rosanna.
In "Carmina Burana" were Alena, Carolyn (Hertha), Christina, Irina Funtikova, Kate, Michelle, Marie-Eve and Varia.
In "Falling Angels" were Alena, Ashley, Carolyn, Christina, Esther, Michelle and Varia.
All these gymnasts plus Emily and Zoe, performed in the last routine of the evening: "Angels and Demons".
The Northern' Lights performed their "Spider" routine.
